More Coming Soon
Dear friends and fellow readers and writers,
I know it’s been a long time since Unsent Letters has been updated. I need to apologize to everyone for that.
Unsent Letters was a brilliant idea that came at an inopportune moment, and unfortunately, it was piled on to a list of things to do that was too big, too heavy and the weight of that list bent the support holding it. What this means for you guys is that Unsent Letters took a backseat while other more immediate concerns were dealt with, including: survival, health issues, sleep… you know, minor stuff, and then also other obligations I had created that quite frankly can only be best described as saying: I bit off more than I could chew.
Partly this was because I didn’t plan well going into all these new projects; partly this was because Unsent Letters did better and received more response than I could possibly imagine it would. In less than two weeks, I’d received over 200 submissions almost immediately upon putting out the news, and that was before the site even indexed in Google!
I was wholly unprepared, and that has come off unprofessional. All the experience in the world as an editor and writer can’t prepare you for the deluge of the human heart and the weight that has upon your soul. Rejecting an Unsent Letter was simply unthinkable–how can you reject something that you know was raw heart, raw emotion? That’s not good business, but I’m a human being first and always.
I see now the human nature aspect of this project more than I ever did at its inception. We all must purge our souls. We all have things we wish we could say. Just the saying of them, putting them into words, writing them down, going through the emotions… that makes a difference, but we are also human beings, with souls and hearts and minds, and there is this need to share that which brings us both joy and pain. That’s what makes Unsent Letters work. That’s what makes it special. When it’s not safe to share it with the person who we are writing to, sharing it with others who might understand, connect to it in some way, well… that matters. That makes a difference.
So, to update you all – I was broken, and now, I’m on the road to being repaired. The first Accentuate Short Story Anthology went to print, and the book has been mailed to those who placed pre-orders and to the authors. An updated version goes to print in a couple of weeks, and we are well into the process of book number two–Elements of Time–which will go for first round printing before the end of the year. The erotic anthology goes to print in January for the inaugural edition and then…***drum roll***… the first ever Best of Unsent Letters.

I know you are all eagerly and patiently (or not so patiently) awaiting the information about this book and about your pending submissions, some of which have been pending since May! You will start receiving acceptances and rejections very soon. Those of you included in the book, you will start seeing your name appear over here———-> on the sidebar of the blog as I process your paperwork. Once I have everyone compiled, I will let you know WHICH book your submission will be included in, the Best of, or one of the themed books, like the Unsent Letters to Mothers, Unsent Letters to Fathers, etc. Some might get included in more than one book, and you will receive more than one royalty contract and two copies of each book your story appears in.
You had faith in me and Unsent Letters when you submitted. I ask you to have faith for just a little while longer while I prepare all that’s required in the background to get the inaugural edition of Unsent Letters off the ground, knowing things will go much more smoothly once the first book gets completed.
In the meantime, I’m going to start posting new Unsent Letters for the blog beginning later today! If you are not already subscribed to the blog, check out the subscription at the top there, and sign up! I’ll be sure you get notified of each new post!
Thank you sincerely to everyone who has contributed, read, commented, submitted to and asked about or promoted Unsent Letters. The “BEST” is yet to come!
Love and stuff,
Michy
